HG Engineering have a variety of fantastic new opportunities for experienced Operations Manager, ideally with an industry background in Welding and Fabrication or Sheet Metal.

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 per annum. 25 days holiday + banks.

Working Hours:  between 7:00am – 5:00pm Mon – Fri (Flexibility needed)

Production Operations Manager 

• Hands on management position that would suit someone from a fabrication background.
• Salary circa £50,000 to £55,000 as a guide.
• Day shift position within a growing engineering business with a strong order book.

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a team of 20+ staff across their production and office department. The business operate within the sheet metal / fabrication sector, so it’s essential to have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes within this industry.

This Production Operations Manager job will suit:

• Experience working within the sheet metal fabrication sector.
• Proven Man Management / Supervisory experience, alongside a track record of improving processes.
• Organised and a natural problem solver. Someone who wants to own the department and strive to continually improve all aspects.
• Proactive in nature. We need someone who will be ahead of the curve on any production related challenges.

The Production Operations Manager job will involve:

• Managing the production processes ensuring products are delivered to specification and standards in a timely manner.
• Man management of the team, supporting development / training where required.
• Introducing new processes to help improve efficiency.
• Ensuring quality remains high and health & safety procedures are adhered to.
• Working with necessary IT packages to manage work flow.
• Controlling operational budgets, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring all business and profitability targets are consistently achieved.
• Sales and business development, so you will need to be customer facing.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

• Extensive senior management experience within an engineering environment, ideally with a strong background in sheet metal, fabrication and laser cutting operations.
• A demonstrable track record of driving business growth and delivering sustained profitability, with a strong commitment to customer service excellence.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, combined with a collaborative leadership style and the ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
• Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers, creating a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
• Energetic, confident, and hands-on leadership approach, with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to inspire those around you.
